Ann - previews tomorrow in New York City. Holland Taylor wrote the play and plays Ann Richards. Ben Klein is the director - should be great.

(75,480 posts)She and Molly Ivins were so cool and so witty. I hope when the play leaves Broadway that we get to see it on PBS or HBO or somewhere. Holland Taylor, a funny lady, I know will capture her essence.

(6,996 posts)A fine actress. Most TV viewers will know her as the mother on 2 and a Half Men. But for me she will always be the wonderful law professor in Legally Blonde.
(And I've heard that there's another play in the works about Molly Ivins with Kathleen Turner as Molly.)

(13,933 posts)If I had not seen the Ann Richards play first, I would have liked the Molly Ivins play better. There were a lot of similarities -- not only in the subject matter, but in the way it was staged and even content.
The play about MI (and Kathleen Turner) were good, but didn't hold a candle to the play about AR. Both Holland Taylor and the play were just fantastic.

Hopefully I'll eventually see this on cable

(14,487 posts)I got to see her at a woman's forum talking about the experience of doing the show as well. She really "gets" Ann, and that's why she is so great at playing her!
