Why the republicans will keep losing elections / A right winger email I just got

I Cced my reply and told them to please keep this up because I like winning elections and that
swimming in de-Nile will lead to crocodile attacks. The President Obama had no experience and
is a failure? please!

"TOP-11 "ONLY IN AMERICA

These 11 observations by a Canadian paint a very true and sad picture of how this

country has lost its common sense and how idiotic we have become as a nation.

1) Only in America could the rich people -who pay 86% of all income taxes - be
accused of not paying their "fair share" by people who don't any income taxes at all.

2) Only in America could people claim that the government still discriminates against black Americans when they have a black President, a black Attorney General, and roughly 18% of the federal workforce is black while only 12% of the population is black

3) Only in America could they have had the two people most responsible for our tax code, TimothyGeithner, the head of the Treasury Department and Charles Rangel who once ran the Ways and Means Committee, BOTH turn out to be tax cheats who are in favor of higher taxes.

4) Only in America can they have terrorists kill people in the name of Allah and have the media
primarily react by fretting that Muslims might be harmed by the backlash.

5) Only in America would they make people who want to legally become American citizens wait for years in their home countries and pay tens of thousands of dollars for the privilege while we discuss letting anyone who sneaks into the country illegally just 'magically' become America citizens.

6) Only in America could the people who believe in balancing the budget and sticking by the
country's Constitution be thought of as "extremists."

7) Only in America could you need to present a driver's license to cash a check or buy alcohol, but not to vote.

8) Only in America could people demand the government investigate whether oil companies are
gouging the public because the price of gas went up when the return on equity invested in a major U.S. oil company (Marathon Oil) is less than half of a company making tennis shoes
(Nike).

9) Only in America could the government collect more tax dollars from the people than any nation in recorded history, still spend a Trillion dollars more than it has per year - for total spending of $7-Million PER MINUTE, and complain that it doesn't have nearly enough Money.

10) Only in America could politicians talk about the greed of the rich at a $35,000.00 a plate campaign fund-raising event.

11) Only in America can a man with no background, no qualifications and no experience ..and a complete failure at his job...... be reelected.

You know, since it's complete bullshit, and all.

Even if it was 70% (the usual bandied about number), it's because most of the income gains since 1979 have gone to the upper 5% of Americans while the average real dollar wage for the rest of us has either stagnated or declined during that same 22-year period.

And I assume #11 is talking about Bewsh, but that would imply he was Elected in the first place.

If the want to keep living in this bubble and believe that what is false is true and that
African Americans and Latinos are less then "good white Americans" (in so many words)
they will keep getting their asses kicked in tons of elections except for where the districts
have been gerrymandered or places like Oklahoma and Utah.

Then sit back and watch the stupid assholes continue to render themselves unelectable at the national level. Sure, we'll still be treated to occasional Honorable Representative Cooter, from Asscrack, Mississippi; but in the larger scheme they will eventually become irrelevant.

The rich pay 86% of all tax? Really? The group of people who actively pay lobbyists and stash trillions overseas to avoid paying them? Yeah and I'm the prime minister of Narnia.

As for the 86% figure .... it is like Fox News when they need a fact or figure
they just make it up.

And the top 20 percent of income earners — those earning more than $74,000 — paid 94 percent of federal individual income taxes,

I get really confused by the numbers that are thrown about, but if this is not true, then could someone give me a simple straightforward % as to what it really is?

According to the IRS as of 2010...The top 1% earns 19% of total income of the United States and pays 37% of the total tax revenue. The top 10% pay 68% of the total tax.

Part of it though is deceiving. When you do your taxes, you are probably finding your total tax to be $1k to $10k range if you are middle class. If you make $60,000 a year...a tax of $10k is a huge chunk of your income.

As you go up the income latter though, the percentages start to go in your favor because you are dealing with larger numbers and more money. Someone who makes $10 million a year may have to pay $3.5 million in taxes. But he still gets to keep $6.5 million. In other words, because your dollars can go further as you make more money, the tax doesn't hit you quite as hard as it would someone in the middle class.

When you do the math over a period of years, the rich man is increasing his wealth far more quickly than the middle class man even though the rich man is paying far more in taxes.
