Our strategy should be not only to confront empire, but to lay siege to it. To deprive it of oxygen. To shame it. To mock it. With our art, our music, our literature, our stubbornness, our joy, our brilliance, our sheer relentlessness and our ability to tell our own stories. Stories that are different from the ones were being brainwashed to believe.
The corporate revolution will collapse if we refuse to buy what they are selling their ideas, their version of history, their wars, their weapons, their notion of inevitability.
Remember this: We be many and they be few. They need us more than we need them.
Another world is not only possible, she is on her way. On a quiet day, I can hear her breathing.

Kudos to Tierra_y_Libertad, without whom I may have never learned of this great philosopher.

Here's what I propose:
Strategy to take control of our government
1. Get the truth out to the American people.
a. Support independent media
b. Establish networks to promulgate the truth
Via internet
Independent of the internet
c. Work to affect the corporate media.
2. Become a force in local politics.
a. Be active in local Democratic party organizations.
b. Be active in other civic organizations like school boards, parent/teacher organizations.
3. Effect national policies by participating in national political organizations like moveon.org, Progressive Democrats of America (PDA), Democracy for America (DFA), PCCC, etc.
4. Establish a coordinated program to monitor elections to insure them to be free and fair.
5. Lobby reform.

(6,151 posts)As a member, I can personally endorse MoveOn and PDA. I also really like Van Jones, who's young enough to have time for America to grow up enough to vote him into the WH. After Hillary, of course. 2016 will probably be her last chance. Although I love Joe Biden, he never has had and never will have the votes, so I hope he doesn't challenge her. I hope the GOP shrivels down to no more than a tiny handy place to spot the national crazies, too small to cause any more trouble.
Thanks for another philosopher whose work I need to devour. Even on a noisy day, I can breathe easier now!
