(58,670 posts)Not us. It should take more than Beckisms and Rushlies to move political policy. Unfortunately, nearly half of the voting population doesn't seem to think so.

(3,526 posts)The issue of voting rights in the United States has been contentious throughout the country's history. Eligibility to vote in the U.S. is determined by both federal and state law. Currently, only citizens can vote in U.S. elections (although this has not always been the case). Who is (or who can become) a citizen is governed on a national basis by federal law. In the absence of a federal law or constitutional amendment, each state is given considerable discretion to establish qualifications for suffrage and candidacy within its own jurisdiction.
Too many sources to link.

Maybe a search will turn up more.

(48,181 posts)And that is all voter fraud, citizen, non-citizens, penguins, even Ann Coulter. The right has searched high and low for it, but the last time they found any was when James okeefe and his cru committed their own fraud in my state of nh.
We have a problem with too few people voting, not too many. The Republican Party used to understand that, then they were taken over by looneytoon extremist nut jobs and now they know that they can only win by cheating on a massive scale, by for example, excluding legal voters from voting by the tens and hundreds of thousands.

(17,064 posts)No evidence they actually voted. And those illegal registered voters claimed they never registered, so it's likely they were victims of a phoney registration scheme (like signing a petition got you registered to vote).
It makes sense that illegal residents would want to keep a low profile, not do something that might attract attention.
