For eight years, he* ran up the debt, put wars on credit cards, brought about unfunded mandates. Trillions of dollars.
All the while cutting revenue so as not to ask 1 percenters to pay fair taxes.
Was there any talk of the deficit then, from Republicans?
Was there any talk of austerity measures?

(11,443 posts)Bush increased federal spending by 90%. Why the hell doesn't he say it day it day after day after day after day? Why does he keep giving the repukes and Bush a pass on this? He has enough ammo to bury the bastards and will not fucking do it!

Problem is, if they said anything against their boy wonder along with our calls to impeach, impeachment might have stayed on the table. So they sold out. Unlike good democrats that are willing to call out Obama to try and keep him honest, pubs suck up to power.

(12,769 posts)Congress controls the purse strings but they certainly let them loose for Dumbya's fake wars and ridiculous tax cuts. How dare they blame Obama for their careless (and immoral) spending.

Step One happens when the GOP is in power. They give out all sorts of goodies like tax cuts. Never mind the future.
Step Two happens when Democrats regain power: Republicans force crushing austerity.
The sum total: things become artificially good under Republicans and bad under Democrats.
