Bloomberg Businessweek Regrets Cover Slammed As Racist
The editor of Bloomberg Businessweek on Thursday gave a quasi-apology for the magazine's cover this week, which has been slammed as racist for its depictions of minorities. The cover shows a cartoon depiction of black and latino homeowners swiming in cash with the tagline: "The Great American Housing Rebound: Flips. No-look bids. 300 percent returns. What could possibly go wrong?"

"Our cover illustration last week got strong reactions, which we regret," Josh Tyrangiel, the magazine's editor, wrote in a statement sent to POLITICO. "Our intention was not to incite or offend. If we had to do it over again we'd do it differently."

(60,010 posts)1. The newest RW meme against minorities is very obvious this week.
Scalia dutifully spit out his talking point, now Bloomberg joins the fray.
Absolutely NO way to mis-interpret that cover, and NO way to have created it "by mistake".
Fortunately, most sane people know not to lend credence to both bigots.

people and for how long do people of color have to put up with this stuff? It's disgusting and beyond childish...

(27,461 posts)3. what if a black publication did a cartoon portraying Jewish journalists
stereotypical Jewish faces sticking out of the Bloomberg News building? Then issued an apology, "we didn't mean to offend anyone".
