Tell Congress To Take A Pay Cut! - Petition

"As the economy continues to lean closer toward a depression and Americans are losing their jobs and homes we ask that our elected officials do their part to help spread the wealth.
We want all members of congress to take an immediate 25% pay cut and that a wage-freeze begin immediately. This wage-freeze should remain in effect until the economy has completely recovered.
We want our elected members of congress to begin paying into social security instead of their privately funded retirement program."

It favors those of our congresspeople who are wealthy to the detriment of people who are average people. There are less and less altogether, but my guess is that there will be less and less in this type of environment.

This said, forcing them to go to work five days a week could be good. Right now, both house and senate are closed on Friday and rarely open on Monday. Who is paid a full salary for 3 days of work a week?

Even if congress placed their pay at zero, they'd still become rich. Most of what they get is under the table. They're all on the take.
