"Newt Gingrich is being sued by the company which owns the rights to the 1982 song, "Eye of the Tiger" -- claiming Newt had no right to use it as part of his campaign.
"Rude Music Inc. -- owned by a member of the band Survivor -- filed the suit today in federal court in Illinois ... claiming Newt has jacked the song made famous in "Rocky III" to push his political agenda.
"According to the lawsuit, Newt has been using the song at various political events since 2009.
"In the suit, Rude Music claims Gingrich used the song at the Conservative Political Action Conference in 2009, 2010 and 2011 ... as well as the Southern Republican Leadership Conference in 2010."
Check out this ridiculous video showing a Newt "Grand Entrance" as he works his way through the crowd of white dudes whilte "The Eye of the Tiger" is blaring over the PA system. It is the whitest thing I've seen since my grandma took me to a Pat Boone concert when I was 12. Scary

(53,339 posts)Fire burn, and caldron bubble.
Fillet of a fenny snake,
In the caldron boil and bake;
Eye of newt, and toe of frog,
Wool of bat, and tongue of dog,
Adder's fork, and blind-worm's sting,
Lizard's leg, and owlet's wing,
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.

(2,393 posts)they actually support those yahoos. John Mellancamp has complained about the use of his songs - not so much for damages but instead to make it clear that he is a Democrat.

It's amazing that GOP pols continue to steal songs when they have such a conservative genius artist available:

(4,056 posts)I dont' have access to YouTube here at work, otherwise I'd post the link--but Stephanie Miller has been playing this hideous power ballad from some ass clown who wrote it to support Walker in Wisconsin. It really blows--IOW, it's perfect for Repigs everywhere!
If nobody else posts a link before I get to my home computer, I promise to do it myself in a few hours. After all, why should I be the only one to suffer?
