Bailey O'Neill, victim of bullying has died...

His mother posted a few hours ago on the Facebook page they had set up. Bailey just turned 12 this past Saturday.

From an article last month:

"A Pennsylvania sixth-grader is in a coma after a reported schoolyard fight with at least one other student.

Eleven-year-old Bailey O'Neill, who may have been the victim of bullying, is now in a medically induced coma after the incident occurred at Darby Township School in Delaware County, reports ABC affiliate WPVI-TV. The boy's father, Rob, told the local station that his son's condition is a result of a January fight, which left the boy with a broken nose and concussion. When the boy began having seizures, doctors at A.I. duPont Hospital were forced to put him into a coma.

According to the Delaware County Daily Times, the boy's grandmother, Joy Fecanin, blamed the incident on 'two bullies." She revealed more about her grandson's condition on Thursday evening. “The doctors say it is a result of a blow to the head,” she told the local paper.

Bailey's father said the boy who bullied his son was suspended for two days and police have not filed any criminal charges. When asked for a response, Southeast Delco School District Superintendent Stephen Butz told WPVI that the district is concerned for Bailey but, "due to the age of the students involved and the ongoing police investigation, I am unable to make any additional comments."

'bullying' and not 'an unprovoked attack resulting in volunary manslaughter'? I punch a guy in a bar, and he dies as a result of that punch, I'm a murderer. Why should these boys get anything less than that? Maybe if there were actually consequences to bullying attacks, there would be less of it.
I was bullied when I was a kid. The boys never suffered any consequences to their actions. The only one that got in trouble was me, after I started fighting back.

bullying is such a problem in this country. School adminstrators practically encourage it. They tell the victims that "violence is not the answer" for them to stop it. They are not allowed to stand up for themselves. "Bullies are probably mistreated at home. Just try to ignore it. They'll eventually get tired of getting no reaction from you and move on." Which is totally wrong. Bullies aren't looking for a reacation. They are looking for a punching bag. They want to hurt someone without consequence. Will the administrators stop the bullies? Oh heck no. Because "boys will be boys" and all of that crap.

Continue the behavior. Cyber bullying is the next stage. This is systemic to the culture.

Cruel worthless fuckers. Prosecute them all, make them face real consequences. I don't care if they're kids. Assault is a crime and this was murder. This shit has to fucking stop and stop NOW.

What a sad story.

Bailey O’Neill Dies: Boy In Coma After Bully Attack Passes Away Day After 12th Birthday

"Bailey O’Neill, a boy who was put into a coma after a playground bully attack in January, died in the hospital on Sunday just one day after his 12th birthday.

Bailey’s family said he was attacked on the playground at his Darby Township School in Pennsylvania back in January, suffering a concussion and broken nose. He was taken to Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children for treatment, and his parents noticed that Bailey was displaying unusual behavior and wasn’t interested in eating.

The next day the boy began to suffer violent seizures, leading doctors to put him into a medically induced coma, ABC 6 reported. Bailey suffered another setback while still in the coma, catching pneumonia. Doctors were forced to give him a blood transfusion, but Bailey O’Neill died on Sunday, his grandmother told NBC10..."

Clearly no charges were filed in the past month against the perpetrators.

Now its murder. I'm going to guess the attack was planned as well which would put it into a whole other category.

The perpetrators aren't bullies anymore - they are murderers. Still in school. Still not charged.

RIP Bailey.

Can we finally do something about the toxic school environments that enable this?

But bullying should be treated seriously and bullies identified and become social pariahs.

There is a heart-wrenching video of another little boy who has been bullied. At least in this case, there has been some action taken by the authorities.

7 year old kids...I have no words left.
