Former GOP Presidential Nominee Mitt Romney Candidate For Detroit's Emergency Financial Manager?

DETROIT (WXYZ) - Since Governor Snyder proclaimed Detroit is in a financial emergency Friday, only one name has surfaced as a possible emergency financial manager.

Could a man that last ran for president be Detroit's EFM?

"I do have a top candidate and we do have additional people that could serve that role," said Governor Snyder. "The top candidate's outstanding," he continued about the mystery person.

At least two political commentators speculate former GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney may be Detroit's EFM. Washington Post opinion writer Charles Lane suggested Romeny would be a good choice after turning around a number of businesses and citing Romney's Detroit roots and his availability.

Romney hasn't been seen much since his November loss to President Obama.

is that to try and save face they would be willing to pour money into Detroit (unlike the austerity we now suffer under).

It would be costly as hell, much like the Salt Lake City Olympics. I'll bet that in order to try and show that their candidate would have been good for the country they would do almost anything to make Detroit look as if it recovered.

The entire nation would be watching and each side would be picking apart every little thing that happens. If Rmoney failed then we could all point to it and say "See, he would have failed all of us" and if they pump enough cash in to fix things then we can do the math and prove that it wouldn't have worked on the Federal level.

I am against the whole idea of an EFM, but if there must be one then I could support Rmoney being the one. At least I would have more opportunities to make up signs and protest the bastard.

See, there is always a silver lining.
