Truckers unite to help toddler

Truckers unite to help toddler

More than 20 truck drivers gave up a rare day off Sunday to raise money for a 23-month-old toddler most of them have never met.

A convoy of semi trucks wound around Williston on Sunday, many carrying banners that read “Convoy for Mason.” The truck drivers were convoying to raise money for the family of 23-month-old Mason Paul-Evans.

Paul-Evans was seriously injured in January when he was beaten by his mother’s boyfriend in Great Falls, Mont. The child suffered a broken leg, bruises throughout his body and may have brain injuries. He was airlifted to a hospital in Seattle and has since been released to his father.

Riley James Charlo-Whitworth, 20, is facing charges of aggravated assault, criminal endangerment, tampering with physical evidence and assault on a minor. Charlo-Whitworth was watching Mason while the boy’s mother was at work and allegedly beat the child.

Alexis Paul, Mason’s mother, has been charged with criminal endangerment for failing get to medical care in a timely manner.

avoid hitting a car with a 4 year old sitting in the passenger seat that slide through a stop sign. Tank didn't exploded but he did lay it on it side, mother and child were fine.

Until the day he passed, a couple decades later...that still haunted him and he never hauled heavy freight after.

I was all of 4 years old when mom and me went to pick him up and give him a ride home as he couldn't even drive his car back to the house as he was so upset.

Bless his soul...good trucker.

or on its side all by itself, it is a good bet that the driver put it there saving someones life.

I'm approaching 1.9 million miles behind the wheel of heavy trucks in this country and I can assure you, this is the case far more than is reported.

You will never see a headline that reads 'Trucker nearly kills himself while saving the life of an inattentive motorist."

He's had a few run-ins with cars that scared him to death. He ran himself off the road without toppling the truck to avoid hitting a little old lady who cut him off. He did take off her side-view mirror in the process but she went on her merry way after the state police determined all was well. The trooper commended him for his driving skills and gave him a high-five.

I know what you do in your line of work and it's a hard job. My hat is off to you and the countless others who spend their lives holding a steering wheel. Stay safe!

A 23 month old toddler! A baby really.

I hope the man rots in hell. The mother too. You don't do this to a child. Not ever!

There are good doctors and good science to help Mason. Hearts to Mason and the wonderful caring truckers.

Thanks for posting,TSS.
