What would happen if Bush Jr. went and Cheney said "Dems" did it?

The comments from the new top banana in Venezuela are pretty crazy. The vice president "accused the domestic and foreign enemies of Venezuela of poisoning ailing President Hugo Chavez."

The Air Force Attaché at the US embassy was "expelled for being implicated in conspiratorial plan."

Imagine Cheney comes out and says these things, then says that he has "scientific proof" that the president was poisoned. Imagine Cheney called America's left-wing an "oligarchy" and an "enemy of the nation" and that Republicans need "unity and discipline."

Besides being crazy, it would be very damaging to this country and DU wouldn't like it. This is exactly what the VP in Venezuela has done. Are Venezuelan's willing to support this kind of craziness?

1. This kind of Demagoguery is why I have always been suspicious of Chavez and his cronies.

If you have proof of a conspiracy, you need to get it out there at the same time you put out the accusation.

The history of right-wing dictators indiscriminately killing anyone who even appeared to be a leftist of leftist sympathizer. If you think the right-wing in Venezuela or elsewhere isn't inclined to off Hugo, you have no sense of history of Latin America.

It was President Taft that proclaimed the U.S. flag would fly from pole to pole in the Americas because of "our moral superiority". And white color and military might, of course. That threat is still clearly understood south of the border, just ask the Cubans about the embargo. The U.S. is hated for good reasons, and i bet the new President is not speaking without reason.

In all seriousness, VZ will have to solve these things themselves, but hopefully without CIA intervention. And, yes, the poisoning theory is nutsy, but assuming the US will leave Venezuela to decide for itself, totally unfettered, and given our past involvement, is understandably hard for many to swallow.

I'm just saying that if anyone killed him it was his own people. Emperors were more likely to be killed by their personal guard than anyone else and that still applies to rulers today.

The US has been assassinating for over a century.
We ended the democracy in Iran in 1953, supported Diem in Vietnam when he said he would stop the elections that Ho Chi Mien would have won, we invaded Grenada, assassinated Allende, tried to assassinate Castry 12 times, took out Noreiga, etc. It is surprising any one trust us at all, because they are foolish.

Anyone who does not take this matter seriously is ignorant of history and politics too.

Bush tried and failed!

2002 documentary about the April 2002 Venezuelan coup attempt which briefly deposed Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez. A television crew from Ireland's national broadcaster, RTÉ happened to be recording a documentary about Chávez during the events of April 11, 2002. Shifting focus, they followed the events as they occurred. During their filming, the crew recorded images of the events that they say contradict explanations given by Chávez's opposition, the private media, the US State Department, and then White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer. The documentary says that the coup was the result of a conspiracy between various old guard and anti-Chávez factions within Venezuela and the United States.

We also know some of the past hx of the CIA in Central and South America and it isn't pretty.
Chavez did a lot for his people and it showed in the elections.
No one will ever know what all the CIA has been up to. I guess time will tell on the ability of the new prez to continue what Chavez started.
