State Representative Tedd Gassman (R) spoke emotionally about the legislation which would require all parents of children under 18 to prove their spouse had committed a crime, abandoned the family, or committed adultery saying that it related to the real-life scenario of his daughters divorce. That situation, he said, was at risk of turning his daughter into a hormonal trollop:
This basically is an attempt on my part to keep fathers in the home, Gassman said. I sincerely believe that the family is the foundation of this nation and this nation will go the direction of our families. If our families break up, so will this nation.[...]

(14,177 posts)Seems that Republicans are really really obsessed with what women do with their hoohas. And who they do with their hoohas. If they aren't obsessed with that they are worried a couple of guys will want to get married and throw heterosexual marriages into a tail spin.

Let's ignore the fact that forcing people to remain married would probably increase the likelihood of domestic violence.

(1,706 posts)teen girls (but not teen boys, wtf?) to promiscuity, but rather a shortage of parental involvement. That happens when parents have to work too hard for too little money. So the solution is not to make divorce difficult, but having employment situations that make a decent family life possible. Like paying living wages, like family leave time, like sick days, etc., etc., etc.
