Do we have the actual polling questions? I suggest if these poll numbers are at all accurate that it may reflect POTUS's offer to trigger Chained CPI/SocSec/MC cuts.

The time period the poll was take does coincide with the above offer.

Traveling DC area to Florida, and news media, which can and should inform, is not as regularly and easily available as it is in DC area, where I reside.

And professional repugs have done a fine job assuring continued ignorance.

NOT saying your basic premise is incorrect, but there is an understandable reason for the apparent stupidity.

but I've come to the conclusion that people are ignorant by choice. In this so-called 'information age,' there's no excuse for people to remain ignorant to what's really going on in the world - despite the best efforts of the media to force-feed the corporate line. If people haven't awoken to the reality by now that their participation in the decision-making process is necessary, then they're stupid as well as ignorant.

Almost all of the people I know are fucking stupid as hell, including most of my own family! You talk to people at the checkout at the grocery: stupid. You talk to someone waiting in line at the post office: stupid. You talk to people at the boat ramp: stupid.

No matter where I am at any given moment, chances are that nearly everyone I see is as stupid as a door knob.

Personal caveat, I live in Texas. Stupidity of general population may vary depending on location.

15. Latest Pew Research Poll
Wed Mar 6, 2013, 12:00 PM
Mar 2013

Who's to Blame?

Republicans 49%
Obama 31%
Both Sides 11%

http://www.people-press.org/2013/02/21/if-no-deal-is-struck-four-in-ten-say-let-the-sequester-happen/

Edit: If you assume that 30% of the country are complete idiots (i.e., members of the GOP base), then basically anybody in this country who isn't a complete idiot thinks it's either the Republicans or Both Sides.

It's easy to feel overwhelmed by the dismal news 'out there', I've been there too many times and will be again, I'm sure.
But on my better days, I ask, "How can I organize? Can I write letters to the editor? Can I help produce a play or event to raise awareness? Can I make phone calls, emails, letters to elected reps?"
I know I want to be on THIS side of the continuing struggle for ...justice, for lack of a better word right now!
