Free traders making a fortune shipping millions of US jobs out of the country.

The polls keep showing the American people are waking up to suicidal free trade deals that are written by millionaire lawyers/lobbyists for billionaire executives and investors, yet the politicians don't freaking care.

http://economyincrisis.org/content/why-does-washington-keep-pushing-a-failed-system#more-18740

<snip>

With so many Americans against free trade, why does Washington keep pushing these agreements proven to harm American voters?

The reason is simple – America’s failed trade policies and broken campaign finance system are inextricably linked. This is proven by the fact that the vast majority of Americans oppose these policies, yet members of both major parties are forging ahead with more disastrous trade pacts. The average American has come to realize that North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) style trade pacts do nothing more than lead to the loss of millions of jobs and enrich a few multinational corporations in the process.

The fact is, public opinion doesn’t matter, because it is the moneyed interests that make the political world go ‘round.

Gordon Lafer, a political science professor at the University of Oregon, wrote in The Hill:

“The minority that supports the NAFTA model, however, includes the country’s most powerful corporate lobbies. The strongest advocates of ‘free trade’ are the Chamber of Commerce and multinational corporations such as GE, which sent tens of thousands of jobs overseas and built a profitable business helping others do likewise.”

With an army of lobbyists, and millions of dollars lining the pockets of politicians, the average American does not stand much of a chance against corporate giants.

buy up small and mid-size companies that they ship to China for manufacturing.
The company may exist under its old name on the firm's US computers but the manufacturing is in China.
