Yes, I'm actually registered as a republican here in the panhandle of Florida, but only because it allows me to participate in local election primaries (which are the de facto real elections here since this place is dark red). So, I theoretically can vote in the closed republican primary.
Do I go vote for Romney just to increase the chances of the ultra-conservatives having their heads explode?
Do I go vote for Newt just to laugh that this guy might actually be the republican nominee?
Someone else?
Maybe just go and be entertained by the people in line?
Personally, I'm thinking about bypassing the opportunity but maybe there is a good reason to go and do my part to throw a minuscule monkey-wrench in their decision making.
What to do, what to do?

(431 posts)Keeping Newt alive as long as possible is good for the Democrats.
And when you're done voting, take the opportunity to sneak onto the golf course of an exclusive, racist, private club and play a round. The rich wihte people are otherwise busy voting today, might as well take advantage of the opportunity.

Don't let them change the rules and screw poor Newt.
Make sure the Grinch knows you will help him fight this all the way to the convention.

(1,039 posts)I live in a part of Texas that elects nothing but Republicans at all levels of government. Because of that, I vote in the Republic Party primary. It has become the defacto general election here, so it is the only chance I have to make a difference in elections. My "moral" rule is to vote for people I'd like to see win compared with other people on the ballot. In other words, I might vote for Romney because I'd prefer him to Newt or Satanorum.
I don't do things like voting for Newt because I think he'll be easier to defeat in the G.E. While that makes sense from a pure "ends justify the means" perspective, it just doesn't feel like the right thing to do. I guess it is a golden rule thing. If I were in a Demcractic Party dominated area, I wouldn't mind people doing what I am doing but I wouldn't like it if they voted in our primary just to harm our election chances.

I guess I'll just stay home and be entertained from the sidelines.

(6,960 posts)Vote Newt.
Keep them fighting among themselves. The longer this drags out, the more damaged the ultimate nominee is. If the de facto nominee is chosen today, they will -- as good repukes -- rally behind him and aim their hate (or shall I say, even more hate) against BHO and we'll have months of that!
Better that they continue bloodying each other to the bitter end, to their convention.
