republicans are the defenders of personal freedom?

Democrats are being out-voiced in regards to drone programs and internet privacy while republicans are gaining ground on these issues. The same republicans that will likely decimate the internet by overruling net nutrality and expand drone programs once in power but regardless, they seem to have the ACLU of all organizations behind them on these matters. Does anyone know what is going on? Also why is that every time there has been a democratic president since Eisenhower they've acted like republicans?

The ACLU has been known to defend the rights of organizations that would exterminate them, should those groups ever come to power.

if they can enact legislation on this matter they will have complete control over their growth and implementation even while not in office. Their main goal is and has been to let corporations decide, corporations will strike down net neutrality and accelerate the drone program.

This is just the usual obstruction and automatic opposition that shares a feature of a stopped clock that might give the appearance of doing the right thing. They just happen to temporarily be opposed to a brain child or two of their's to be contrary to the black Democrat.

Which means the freedom to suffer and/or die due to lack of healthcare or good nutrition or affordable housing.

It means the freedom to work as wageslaves according the iron whims of employers who will use them and throw them out.

Oh yeah. The Reeps idea of personal freedom has so much going for it.

When these laws dont curb the obesity levels (since people will just buy 2 bottles of soda instead of one now) what's next? Prohibition on soda? We all know how successful that was on alcohol.

We were enraged during Bushco, but Republicans defended every outrage they enacted. Now it's the Republicans' turn to be outraged and Democrats' turn to circle the wagons around Obamaco, and ensure the expansion of the same predatory corporate/authoritarian agenda.

The roles will reverse again at some time in the future. We will be outraged at the growing fascism, and Republicans will defend it again so that it continues. It doesn't really matter to the corporatists which party is playing which role, as long as they can depend on the other party circling the wagons and ensuring that the agenda is able to continue.

The point is that they dupe us into staying bitterly partisan and divided, so that we will never unite against what they are doing to all of us.
