Binary poll: Chavez or Obama?

This poll was inspired by the several DUers who sing the praises of Chavez while dismissively referring to President Obama as a "corporatist" etc.

Thinking back to when Chavez was alive, who do you perceive as the better President, all things considered?

Chavez was a leader of a country that had been crushed by decades of fascist rule and made strides most people thought, and some hoped, impossible.

Obama on the other hand was elected to reverse decades of quasi-fascist(corporate) rule of the US and he has for the most part shuffled his feet on anything remotely as progressive as Chavez launched. Which I truly find sad.

Of course everyone said he was "waiting for his second term" to veer left but I have yet to see it. Now of course they are starting the, "he can't do that because he has to think of the next election cycle presidential hopeful". Which I predicted during the last election cycle would happen.

There always seems to be an excuse ready to go for not being a leader.

Regardless of opinions of Hugo Chavez, whether an American loves him or hates him, I am an American and voted for the American President. When Hugo Chavez was voicing vitriolic hate against Americans, he wasn't just saying that about right-wingers. He was directing that animosity toward you and I on the left-wing as well. A person can criticize President Obama legitimately for not being progressive enough on some issues, but he is a leader on our side, and Hugo Chavez called Obama "ignorant", a "clown", and an "embarrassment."

I don't think Chavez's style would go over very well here.
It isn't about what Chavez did, but how he did it that wouldn't ring true with the US.
So, I voted for President Obama.
