On the one hand they fully understand that this insanity is doomed. That it will inevitably bring about disaster so terrible that no one can predict, or really even comprehend, the global consequences of it. Yet, they have enthusiastically jumped in and exploited the insanity to their own benefit.

Do they believe that, if they can get enough before it collapses they will be spared? Or perhaps they think they can do enough good with their ill-gotten gains to make it a wash, that they can buy forgiveness a la Carnegie?

It's a matter of knowing it can't ( and won't ) go on forever and a desire to solidify their gains as much as possible to insulate themselves when the ton of bricks fall.

If you don't grow and expand, you lose. That's capitalism. So yes, even if you KNOW as a person, that it's unsustainable, the system won't let you do anything other than what you're doing. That's why an overthrow of the capitalist system is needed.

but the people I know/have known don't have to do anything. They could easily walk away and do whatever they like because they're rich and they're liquid.

Personally, I'd like to spend the rest of my life traveling around handing out money to people that I meet that need it. I think that would one of the most rewarding things that a person can do.

Prior to tax rates going up under Clinton weren't there numerous warnings, from Republicans that voted against it, of harm to the economy?

sheeple, they won't believe it even if it's smashed in their faces. Poor wretched examples of human beings. Where did their individual minds go? Are some people that susceptible to complete brainwashing?

The GOP will say it's because of everything and anything.... except, the fact that

more tax money coming in = more revenue = less deficit.
