Fox News Guest Receives Racist Rape And Death Threats After Arguing Guns Aren’t The Solution To Rape

Zerlina Maxwell is a feminist writer and frequent guest on Fox News. Last week, while a guest on Sean Hannity’s show, Maxwell argued that arming women is not a way to solve the problem of rape. Among other things, she pointed out that “if firearms were the answer, then the military would be the safest place for women, and it’s not.” You can watch her full segment below:

In the wake of her appearance, Maxwell was bombarded with harassing messages calling for her to be raped or murdered, often in explicitly racist terms. She provided ThinkProgress with screenshots of three examples:

If you want to view any of the tweets and messages, you can view the article on ThinkProgress. I'm not going to post them here because it is just too vile.

Typical of those a-holes. Note how Hannity can state that he is an adult, that he is a marksman, edgineered Mar 2013 #3

great Americans.

Disgusting pieces of shit, I hope they all get visits from the police. Something along the lines of terroristic threatening comes to mind.

but he CANNOT and does not say that he is a MAN. Just another shining example of how to grow older without growing up, he is a discredit and a disgrace to all of us who know rape is a most unmanly act!

Those messages are really beyond the pale. This country has a lot of ugly under its rocks.

That white, male supremacism flies into its greatest rages when challenged by a young woman of color is also obvious, if frightening per usual. Oh, no doubt the white male supremacist gun nuts will point to the *women* also responding, as if that nullifies the obvious point that gun nuts are a huge white, male population.

Despicable as always, from our gun nut asshole "friends," conservative and "liberal" alike.

there's even a black woman there telling him to "stay classy" after he insults another person (@Bobbyukip) who called him out on his racism. He then accuses @Bobbyukip of hiding behind his twitter account: "Big Guy.... Big words while hiding behind your Twitter Account!" He says this while doing exactly that, hiding behind his own twitter account. See it for yourself: https://twitter.com/michael_ny_usa

In other words, a typical piece of shit right-winger.

how to "avoid rape" and start telling men not to rape. Fox viewers didn't like that. In some cities in Canada last year they started a campaign to tell men not to rape. Rape is down 10% in the first year in those cities.
