Hell No: We Won't Forget!

Battle cry of the Confederates, isn't it?

They won't forget their families were terrorists. That they lost the war after they turned against the US.

There is another group saying the same: Hell No We Won't Forget!

These families of citizens just can't forget. One of those citizens is now the wife of the President of the United States.

Can you imagine what it is they will never forget?

They didn't practice terrorism: they didn't target civilian populations. Most of those who served in the confederate army were poor whites sent off to war to defend the planter class's way of life. They ultimate got fed up, and the South's war effort collapsed.

Plus, we have many Southerners who are members of DU who are sick of being stigmatized.

As for the second part of your post, are you talking about slavery, Jim Crow, segregation, etc. . .?

They created terror for many people. Ever read Cold Mountain? Seen the movie? Pretty accurate depiction of the mindset of the confederates from all accounts I have seen.

I did not bring into my OP anything about southerners, of which i am one.

The idiot confederate supporters today may be southerners, but they may not. And I find it rather odd that they claim to never want to forget the war their 'heroes' are responsible for causing.

And what did they gain from that war?

There were however some people who did gain some freedom from that war. And they will never forget.

They came to a river and Sherman and his men got safely across and hundreds of former slaves jumped into the river to their deaths. Sherman kept on marching never stopping to help.

War is hell.
