I woke up and knew, went to an urgent care, and tested positive for influenza b. Started Tamiflu within 4 hours of symptoms. Here's the thing. I fly on Thursday for my daughter's wedding on Saturday. I have felt progressively worse as the day wore on, and I'm wondering if I'll be over it enough by Thursday. My husband was also given a prescription for it as a preventative due to exposure, so we're hopeful that he won't get the flu.
Man, this is awful.

Thanks for your reply.

(40,416 posts)Locking oneself in an enclosed environment in close proximity of dozens of other people when you have a contagious disease is not advisable.
Please consider before you fly. Ask your doctor first. For the benefit of others on that flight. Influenza is not a think to be trifled with. It can kill.
Thanks.

(2,602 posts)It's a risk if my husband gets it, too, but I will not be contagious at that point. It's hard to even contemplate missing my daughter's wedding.

I hope your husband stays healthy and you get over your symptoms quickly. I hope your daughter's wedding is nice.

(5,946 posts)but for the last few years I got the tamiflu shot after symptoms - it works very very fast. I feel better within 2 days. I never flew after taking the shot though
