Study says 45 current or former PA state officials have links to fracking industry

When Judy Armstrong Stiles of Bradford County suspected that her well water was contaminated by nearby Marcellus Shale gas development operations in 2010, she called the state Department of Environmental Protection and an inspector was sent to test her water.

The DEP inspector reported the Stiles' family water well was "visually positive" for methane, but analysis of water samples found no other contamination. He did four more tests over the next few months with similar results.

But in December 2010, Ms. Stiles was told that the inspector no longer worked at the department and had taken a job with Chesapeake Energy, the natural gas drilling company whose well was closest to her home.
