Of course they won't say nice things about the opposition leadership, this is partisan politics. Expecting the other team to boost your own is a fool's game. I personally always expect Republicans to serve themselves and to have no desire nor reason to serve Democrats. They want us to lose, every time.
Anyone who thought that nominations and dinner dates were going to make the Republicans into allies of the Democrats is harboring deep misconceptions about how politics actually functions.
