Somewhat famous Catholic quit the church

I can't think of his name, several years ago. He quit because of the coverup, I think it was in NY, but it might have been Boston, and because the Archbishop or Bishop was permitted to be kept in that high position.

Can anybody think of his name?

Not Jimmy Breslin, but somebody who had the same level of celebrity who protested the appointment of a Bishop or something like that...

It was really big news at the time.

I think Mayor Bloomberg is and was Jewish.
