Police: Man runs truck into Perkins, injures man he was arguing with by phone

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — A man has been charged with attempted murder after he ran his pickup through the front window of a restaurant early Sunday, striking a man police say he was arguing with over the phone.

Tanner Matthies, 20, of North Platte is charged with attempted second-degree murder and criminal mischief, according to Rodney Brown, public information officer for the North Platte Police Department.

Brown said Matthies was arguing with a 25-year-old Greeley, Colo., man over the phone when he drove his Dodge pickup into the front of the Perkins restaurant at 5 a.m. Sunday, striking the man. The relationship between Matthies and the victim was not known, Brown said.
