Two cardinals from the same conference (Dolan and O'Malley from Conference USA) never meet in the first round of the tournament. Note that that tradition was followed in the case of the only other conferences to receive multiple bids, Italia and Brasil.

how this was the "superbowl" of religion, with hundreds of thousands praying for the election.

PRAYING for the election? Seriously? Who the hell would pray for some group of old, mostly white, ultra-conservative men who are pretending that some voice they hear in their heads will uniformly tell them who to vote for? The silliness of the whole catholic schtick has to become obvious at some point.

And you are absolutely correct, Duke will once again get the easiest region as a #1 seed this season. Then they will proceed once again to lose prior to the Elite 8 and whine about how tough of a bracket they had.
