My second nominee for parent of the year today...

The toddler was taken to the Ukiah Valley Medical Center by his grandmother, who noticed that he appeared unwell and smelled of alcohol after she picked him up from Delvalle's home in Mendocino County.
When sheriff's deputies searched the home, they found Delvalle, 22, and Maybry, 21, intoxicated and with drug paraphernalia in areas easily accessible by a child.
Lt. Greg Van Patten of the Mendocino Country Sheriff's Department told the Santa Rosa Press Democrat that the two-year old is now living with his biological father while child protective services investigates the incident.
Maybry was released on $25,000 bail, but Delvalle remains incarcerated. Both are scheduled for a court hearing later this month.
Earlier this yeah, a woman in Washington state was arrested after her two-year-old died from ingesting a deadly amount of meth.
Posted for those who scream to legalize all drugs. Meth is not a drug that belongs in modern society. Period.

(48,121 posts)determining who they are and who gets to decide is the tricky part.
Some folks leave that up to popes/ministers/religious leaders, others leave it up to elected officials to decide who deserves to get what.
Who do you think should decide?

(16,038 posts)advocating legalizing meth on DU, have you? No, the problem is that pot is classified as the same risk as meth by the feds and by some willfully ignorant people who believe legalizing marijuana is somehow akin to legalizing meth..

(6,253 posts)It's one of the reasons I tend to shy away from drug discussions here.
This story simply exemplifies the growing idiocy of people, especially drug-using parents.

(27,630 posts)How about the people who say that all drugs should be legalized? DU has a lot of those.
What I haven't seen much of at the DU is "people who believe legalizing marijuana is somehow akin to legalizing meth.." Honestly I have not seen many DUers who are that boneheaded about marijuana, but there may be a couple of them.
