Well this is refreshing. A, self-proclaimed, Republican women, tells Rush Limbaugh what time it is... And we're cheering her on!
In her DailyNewsOnline article, http://thedailynewsonline.com/... Esther Kohlhagen writes:
"Fortunately for me, a Registered Republican, I have grown into a crotchety old lady who has lived long enough to see and witness the good, bad and ugly in its truest form."
She says to Rush,
"You are no more than a leech that sucks the goodness out of a person or nation until you can extract no more. At this point, we know, you dont care because your needs have been fulfilled and you are free to go and look for your next victim to ridicule and try to destroy.
And victims? You, Rush have an endless supply. You can make fun of a persons name (this always gives you a good belly laugh); you can make derogatory remarks about prominent women, especially if they are black or Democrat; and one of your greatest pleasures is when a person of the Democratic Party is affected with a disease or disabling condition oh how you can chuckle about their physical inabilities.
Rush, youre so brave!
Youre so brave, as you daily hide in your little glass monkey-cage, surrounded by your obedient caretakers who throw you your very nutritious crumbs of malicious gossip to brazenly deliver to the public. Then when your daily stint is over you seem to disappear until the next day...

Oh well, I'm cheering her on.
Nice to know there are some people left in the Republican Party who are still capable of basic human decency (though how long she'll stay a Republican remains to be seen).

(53,661 posts)Mitch wanted to get on the toss the elders under the bus, it's so cool bandwagon and said the Democratic ticket in 2016 will look like an episode of Golden Girls, to thunderous applause. I agree, the adults will never reclaim the GOP, they're going spoilt brats all the way. Most likely will run Rand Paul and Carnival Cruz. The rotting corpse of their beloved Ayn Rand will be handing out party favors from the grave.

(31,706 posts)...Rushbo doesn't hear a word as women still serve a subservient role in rushbo's orderly world. They walk one step behind and are only heard from when it serves his purpose. Any woman who attempts to step out of line is derided and attacked. To his "dittoheads" it's a sign of "strength" but we all know it shows a tremendous insecurity in his own skin about who he is. Thus if Rushbo decides to address this spot-on critique, he'll surely make mention of the woman's lack of a "man" or some "macho" retort to show whose "boss". It's how you have to be when you're constantly having to reassure yourself of your own identity. Insecurity drips when rushbo attacks...especially women.
Cheers...

(20,219 posts)yecch. He is scum.
There are a couple of women in my department at work who listen to him daily. I've complained to the Diversity Committee Chair (on behalf of the people who have to be around that office. I only go in there occasionally.) who spoke to the dept. head.
They still listen only not at full volume anymore.
I've asked a couple of times if they were bothered by the misogyny, and the one I spoke to insisted that he doesn't do that!!!!
I emailed her a snip from MediaMatters documenting a few of his ugly remarks, but.....I heard nothing back and haven't pursued it. Don't want to piss her off.
But HOW can she think he's respectful to all, as she claimed???? HOW HOW can she actually THINK that???

(31,706 posts)...as "being a joke"...that rushbo is an "entertainer". It's an easy way to dismiss the vitriol and pretend that it doesn't effect or reflect upon them. Of course, that "humor" only extends to their favorite cartoon characters...dare to play that same game using a Palin and then out comes the sexist rants. The hypocrisy is always just below the surface.
Sorry to hear of your problem...I've learned to look upon those who listen to rushbo like little children..."they just don't know better". I've long given up on trying to reason with those who are have fallen off the reality abyss. Live with the satisfaction that you're on the right side of history and what's right.
Cheers...

(3,927 posts)despite being one of the top advisors to Palin on the McCain/Palin team. (It was actually BECAUSE she was a top advisor and knew so much about Palin that she didn't vote!) Palin used her as a scapegoat after the election when, in fact, it was all Palin's pathetic self who was the problem.
So, this is a woman who was described by the NY Times as a "tough, savvy and hard-charging conservative political operator," who was W's communication director for 6 years before signing on with the McCain/Palin campaign....
was so horrified by Palin that she didn't vote in the 2008 election.....I suspect there were more Republicans who voted for Obama than are willing to admit it. Palin was pretty damn appalling, and the press coverage was often quite damning. Yes, she built up a big following of morons following her and excited by her but there were some like Wallace who are horrified at the prospect of Palin assuming the presidency and who didn't vote for the McCain/Palin ticket as a result.

(4,079 posts)After all, it's not only Rush who has poisoned that party to the point of irrelevancy. It's their own elected leaders: Cheney, Bush, Romney, Ryan, Walker, etc. She may disagree with how limpballs chooses to impart his particular brand of malicious ignorance, but it is the ignorance itself--the policies--that that are truly so offensive about the right wing.

Because of all the unselfish and thoughtful efforts you have put forth to do your very best for the good of we the people and our great country, I sincerely hope you and your family will enjoy all the warmth and happiness this blessed season of Christmas has to offer. Our little brown dog, Coco, sends his greetings also, to your black and white dog, Bo, in the true integrated American spirit.

Since the day President Obama took office, a regiment of other repulsive Republicans has come to fore. Right now, it seems the Koch brothers are the leaders of this morally and mentally deprived gang of pathetic perverts.
and this where she's able to connect the rescue of the Chilean miners with Limbaugh:

I don't think she's some republican who was recently struck down on the road to Damascus. From her writing, it doesn't sound like she's a republican at all. And she's had a thorn under her saddle about Limbaugh for years.

(13,986 posts)But starting in the 80's, she suddenly stopped talking politics. And stopped paying dues in the 90's. And said she "voted for the best candidate" shortly thereafter.
I never argued the label with her. Why bother? She called herself a Reep, but didn't act or vote like one. That's good enough.

(2,674 posts)Every outrageous thing that Limb. says is driven by selling advertising, it's all about the money. What is so sad is that many people believe the drivel that comes out of his mouth. The same goes for Man Coulter, the only reason she says all the outrageous things she does is to sell her books and get speaking engagements.
And Fox is the same way, I am sure that Rupert Murdoch surveyed the market and decided the advertising dollars were the deepest when pandering to the conservative right. But do not give up, the tide is turning as shown by Limb's loss of advertising dollars and the fall-off of views for Fox. All the old white conservatives are dying off and young people are smart enough to know that all the right wing media is nothing more than an attempt to manipulate them.

(13,616 posts)In this day and age, an idiot can get on radio and be respected as the de facto leader of half the nation. It would be on thing if this was simple entertainment, but shock jocks get more respect than any journalist, and that alone is a sign of decay.
Look at this, tell me who is the journalist, and who is the comedian:
The answer is, neither one should be, but Stewart never wanted to be a journalist, while Cramer pretends he is.

(57,145 posts)and I regretted my vote for W during and after the Florida debacle. I know Gore won and even though he wasn't my choice, the people spoke and were denied. Not exactly a shining moment in a democracy. And it only got terribly worse by January after Sept 11. And Limbaugh only iced the crap cake we got for eight years. And we still have him around in the fringe. Flinging poop in his glass monkey cage.

(55,981 posts)He accepts his pay as acceptance or success. Many or probably most in America equate success with wealth which is a shame. Americans put a lot of emphasis on accumulating wealth and not so much on being a good human being. Millions are raised without empathy and we call them republicans.
