The war on Iraq started on 3 April 1991, with United Nations Security Council Resolution 687. The 2003 invasion was just our final blow to finish what Poppy Bush started on the road to eradicate the nation of Iraq, an effort that Democratic SecState Madeline Albright famously remarked as being "worth it."

Iraq was the second Muslim nation to be obliterated. It won't be the last if US policy continues on its current trajectory; Syria is crumbling and we're very interested in helping it along, Yemen is almost gone, and there's a constant drumbeat even on DU to pick up the genocidal war against Iran "our man" Saddam couldn't finish.
