In the Missouri capitol, Senate Democrats are in the process of filibustering SB 592; which strips certain human rights from the Missouri Human Rights Act. Democrats are trying to prevent the republicans from passing this bill, who currently have the majority in the Senate. SB 592 attempts to do the following:
o Eliminating individual responsibility for discrimination

o Exempting private clubs from suit

o Limiting actual damages

o Limiting punitive damages against private companies and prohibiting punitive damages against government

o Limiting the right to a jury trial

o Making Missouri Law more restrictive than federal law

o Jeopardizing federal funding for the Missouri Human Rights Commission

o Exempting seasonal employers


This bill will make it easier for corporations to discriminate against its employees.
