MO Dem Senators are filibustering

Just got this email. The Democratic senators involved are Robin Wright-Jones, Monica Curls, Jolie Justus, and Maria Chappelle-Nadal.

In the Missouri capitol, Senate Democrats are in the process of filibustering SB 592; which strips certain human rights from the Missouri Human Rights Act. Democrats are trying to prevent the republicans from passing this bill, who currently have the majority in the Senate. We would love for NBC to cover this story since it is such a significant topic at our state capital, and at the national level.

SB 592 attempts to do the following:
o Eliminating individual responsibility for discrimination

o Exempting private clubs from suit

o Limiting actual damages

o Limiting punitive damages against private companies and prohibiting punitive damages against government

o Limiting the right to a jury trial

o Making Missouri Law more restrictive than federal law

o Jeopardizing federal funding for the Missouri Human Rights Commission

o Exempting seasonal employers

This bill will make it easier for corporations to discriminate against its employees.

I'm originally from KC and I am going to send this to everyone I know back home.

I'm hoping at least one person will say they know about this.

a State can have its own constitution and run its own courts as it sees fit. They can't say shit about how the federal courts seated within their borders operate procedurally.

As to all the changes that are being proposed - what an evil cohort must be behind these efforts. There are a number of things in there that would represent good enough reasons to move.

I swear, this session the Pukes are trying to drive Missouri back to the Middle Ages. Sickening.
