Middle School in Southgate (MI) releasing students after on-campus suicide

DETROIT — School officials are releasing students at Davidson Middle School in Wayne County's Southgate, a representative at the school confirmed by phone at 10 a.m. Thursday.

Channel 4's ClickOnDetoit.com reports that an 8th-grade student committed suicide inside the middle school at 15800 Trenton and left a suicide letter.

A school representative said a lockdown, which was imposed earlier this morning, has been lifted and would not release any further details related to the incident.

MLive Detroit was told the district's superintendent would release any subsequent information.

Our school went through an off-campus suicide last year; I can't imagine an on-campus one. I hope the kids have time to heal.

Tyler was not bullied, and he was very much loved by his family and friends. Tyler hid his emotions very well, and this was a shock to absolutely everyone.
