Punxsutawney Phil 'Indicted' Over Spring Forecast

CINCINNATI - Famed groundhog Punxsutawney Phil might want to go back into hibernation.

Authorities in still-frigid Ohio have issued an "indictment" of the furry rodent, who predicted an early spring when he didn't see his shadow after emerging from his western Pennsylvania lair on Feb. 2.

"Punxsutawney Phil did purposely, and with prior calculation and design, cause the people to believe that spring would come early," Mike Gmoser, the prosecutor in southwestern Ohio's Butler County, wrote in an official-looking indictment.

Gmoser wrote that Punxsutawney Phil is charged with misrepresentation of spring, which constitutes a felony "against the peace and dignity of the state of Ohio. "The penalty Phil faces? Gmoser says - tongue firmly in cheek - is death.

Punxsutawney Phil does not have a listed phone number.

MADISON, Wis. -- Deer, bears, wolves, mourning doves, even wild pigs -- if it walks, crawls or flies in Wisconsin, hunters can probably shoot it. Now a state lawmaker wants to declare open season on one more animal: the wily woodchuck.

Rep. Andre Jacque, R-De Pere, is putting the finishing touches on a bill that would remove woodchucks from Wisconsin's protected species list and allow people to kill an unlimited number of woodchucks during a season that would run nearly year-round. Jacque said woodchucks don't serve protected status because they're abundant and a nuisance.

"There really isn't a good justification for why woodchucks are on the protected list," Jacque said. &quot The season) is more to control a nuisance. I can imagine they can certainly do some damage."

Woodchucks are going to take over the country and we need to stop them now.

-One woodchuck(Cleaned and trimmed- no offal, but you can leave in the kidney, liver and heart).
-2 tbs Flour, pinch of salt, pinch of brown sugar and pinch of paprika

-One green pepper
-One red pepper
-One large sweet onion
-One jalapeno or habenero
-3 tbs white pepper
-1 12 oz can of dark beer
-1/4 cup of your favourite bbq sauce

Dredge the woodchuck in beer and bbq sauce, and then dredge it in the flour mixture up top. toss in the bottom of your pot with a pat of butter to fry. Once it browns mostly, toss in your onion, let sit for a few minutes until your onions sweat. Toss in the rest of your vegetables and spices, then pour in your beer + bbq dredge, and whats left in your flour mixture. Let bubble for a bit until your beer has settled into a rather thick sauce. Pull out and eat with hot bread and butter and a cold one.

Phil: There is no way that this winter is *ever* going to end as long as this groundhog keeps seeing his shadow. I don't see any other way out. He's got to be stopped. And I have to stop him.
