Malachi Throne, a character actor best known for playing Robert Wagners boss on the ABC spy series It Takes a Thief and a villain on Batman, died on March 13 at his home in Los Angeles. He was 84.
The cause was complications from lung cancer, his wife, Marjorie, said.
Mr. Throne was a brawny, deep-voiced mainstay on television for nearly 50 years. He appeared on everything from The Untouchables in the early 1960s to The West Wing in 2002, and was one of the few actors seen on both Gene Roddenberrys original Star Trek and Star Trek: The Next Generation.

You make me want to watch the whole series again. OH if I only had that much free time....
Greatly underappreciated show. I'm sure I recognized Mr. Throne at the time, but it's totally forgotten.
He did have a fine career. RIP, Mr. Throne. Thanks for the great work.

(23,292 posts)for one. The alien character he played in the original pilot of Star Trek scared the Hell out of me. I was only about 9 when the series came out. They combined part of the pilot with another 2-part episode in the first season. "The Menagerie"
