You should run for office.
No, really, you should. Why? Because voting isn't enough.
That's right, voting isn't enough -- that's what Gov. Howard Dean said when he founded Democracy for America. He said DFA members needed to get more involved in the political process. He said that people needed to volunteer for and contribute to campaigns they support. And then they need to run for office themselves.
He was right then and he's right now -- that's why we want you to run for office. Whether it's school board or city council or state legislature, we need more DFA members in office.
So, what do you think? Would you ever consider running? It's easier than you think, and we'll be there to help you along the way.
Are you in?
Why are local races important? Because even as Democrats win nationally -- as we did last year -- Republicans are cementing control of state and local governments. Just look at the radical agenda they're pushing below the radar:
Attacking women's right to choose in Virginia, Arkansas, North Dakota (my home state -- I'm pretty angry), and elsewhere
Busting unions in Wisconsin and Michigan
Rewriting history in Texas -- I mean, literally rewriting history books that are approved by a right-wing majority on the State Board of Education
That's why we're teaming up with Progressive Majority to find local leaders like you to run for office and fight for our rights, state by state. That's how we won in 2006 and 2008 -- and that's how we'll win in 2014.
Progressive Majority can connect you with resources you need to help assess what running for office would take. They'll help you find an elected position that could be a good fit for you, and they'll help provide you with expert training, winning strategic advice, and everything else you'll need.
If you've ever thought about running for office -- or even if this is the first time the thought has crossed your mind -- let us know and we'll help you get started. So, will you run?
Yes! I'll consider running for office.
Maybe -- I'd like to learn more.
No, thanks. But I'll help recruit others to run.
Thank you for all that you do.

but don't have patience for the b.s., AND don't have the voice.
