A former Highline Medical Center worker has been charged with rape following allegations that he attacked a patient being treated there for a separate attack.
King County prosecutors contend emergency room technician Anthony R. Sims anally raped an injured woman who was being treated at the Burien hospital in January 2012. Investigators contend recently processed DNA evidence backs the womans account.

(2,132 posts)I wonder how many other people were hurt by that man over the course of the last year. If he's sick enough to rape a patient in a hospital, there must be other victims.

But it is really hard to understand why she didn't start screaming when he started fondling her genitals, considering that had nothing to do with why she was in the ER.
What is sick is that this is surely not the first time this animal has done that. How many other women have remained silent?

(36,221 posts)Panic, silence, unable to speak, fear for your life, might be one reason someone doesn't scream.
Your post was sort of blaming the victim for not stopping it. I wish you would reconsider what you wrote.

How could it seem normal to anybody to have somebody swapping their genitals if that had nothing to do with the attack?
I didn't mean to imply the woman did anything wrong. I just noted how bizarre the guy's behavior was from the outset.
People are especially vulnerable in a health care setting because we have to enter there with an assumption that we are dealing with professions and we may not understand all their procedures.

"The evening she was raped {ed: by the hospital worker}, the woman arrived at Highline Medical Center for treatment after she was beaten up by an acquaintance, King County Detective Patricia Maley told the court"

sometimes it's not until later where it really sinks in that it really happened . i'm not sure how to describe this. but it's something where i can easily see why someone would not scream.
Stargazer09
(2,132 posts)After being beaten by an acquaintance. The article doesn't specify the extent of her injuries, but she may have suffered head injuries, or she may have simply been in shock over the beating.
She probably wasn't completely aware of her surroundings, it might not have lasted very long, or she was in so much pain elsewhere that it took time for the anal pain to register.
There's a lot of reasons for a person to not scream as soon as something happens.

(8,052 posts)this evidence is incredible.
What's almost as incredible is how most Americans have no idea their "criminal justice" system is this broken.
They watch TV shows where DNA is processed immediately, and fingerprint results come back within hours. Where teams of FBI investigators fly out to crime scenes within hours of a crime being reported.
Meanwhile, in the real world, there are entire warehouses filled with rape kits, some of them years old, waiting to be processed. And serial rapists are apprehended almost by chance, after years and years and years of victimizing women, children, and men.

(4,886 posts)to wait a YEAR, while he ,presumably, knew where she lived.
I am not a violent man, but I really would like 20 minutes alone with this piece of trash.
And then, after he raped her, he asked if she wanted to perform oral sex on him.
That just shows that he cared NOTHING for what he just did to her.
I really, REALLY want some time alone with this sub-human piece of trash.
Sick cannot describe this lowlife.
I've had trouble sleeping, since I read this story, thinking of the pain he caused her.
And I, too, wonder how many more are out there that he 'treated'.
I think the woman has a great case, and I hope she sues him and the hospital for millions.
