One of the things I despise most about the anti-choicers: Their endless lying.

There are lots of things to despise about these people, but the big lie that it's all about protecting women, is one lie that particularly sticks in my craw. It's not only blatantly a lie, it's the worst kind of paternalistic shit.

A controversial bill to put new regulations on abortion clinics is expected to get a vote in the Alabama Senate next week.

Proponents of the bill said the new regulations -- which include that doctors must have admitting privileges at a local hospital -- are needed to protect women.

But opponents have said the legislation is a backdoor attempt to shut down the state's five abortion clinics.

"It is very clear that HB 57 is part of a national strategy to make reproductive health care inaccessible by targeting women'€™s health centers that provide abortion services. HB 57 will hurt women's health by making safe, legal abortion harder to access," said Nikema Williams, vice-president of public policy for Planned Parenthood Southeast.
