Charting People instead of Years

We measure history in terms of Earth's trips around the sun.

Looked at that way, the human story is kind of a flat line for endless millenia and then a sudden explosion of wealth and technology and social progress.

But what if our metric was the span between human births? Or "man hours"?

Given the way our population has grown during the era of progress, such a scale would offer a much smoother history. I think the midpoint of human history to date would have occured in the mid-late 20th century.
