I know people who'll name their Wifi network stuff like "surveillance van #3" or "FSB, New York station" or something along those lines just to mess with people scanning for networks.

I've never had such a diabolical plan but now... I'm thinking about it... I've got meth neighbors...who openly use the neighbors' wifi every chance they get...for porn and who knows what...

Oh, I shouldn't...but...

Somebody, stop me! ...

So weird. I moved to a rural town in Utah about 1.5 years ago. I'm surrounded by every right-wingbeckistan stereotype you could possibly imagine. Meth, pervs, republicans, survivalists...

About a week ago, the neighbor came to my door to see if I had a certain usb cable they might borrow... Turns out, they were crazyrigging a wireless setup to try to pick up another neighbor's open wifi network. I could see my wifi modem on the list but didn't offer the password. (My situation is so rural that my only internet option is a limited bandwidth satellite dish. After 17 gb/mo. they throttle my speeds.)

Anyway, suffice it to say, this neighbor has it coming to them...

I'll report back if I decide to go forward with it...

I've wanted to rename my network for the longest time - but I'm too lazy. It sure would be fun, though, especially when my future ex dropped by and tried to connect.

The FBI or NSA would NEVER use such a name. It'd be something like "Gumdrops and Lollipops" if they bothered to change it from the defaults at all.
