Man sentenced to 12 years for raping, torturing woman in ‘bondage room’

Detectives said Hauff arranged to do some sexual “role playing” with a 24-year-old woman he picked up on Aurora Avenue and paid in April 2011. Police said Hauff took her back to his house where he tied her up in what has been described as a torture chamber and blindfolded her, shocked her with electrodes and raped her.

The victim suspected something suspicious about Hauff and texted her friend his license plate number earlier in the evening. She told her friend to call police if they did not hear from her by midnight. The woman showed Hauff the text message and investigators said he stopped torturing her and eventually let her go.

According to court documents, Hauff used a chain and padlock on the woman’s neck. He then tied her wrists, blindfolded her and shocked her repeatedly with electrodes attached to her body.

There were also whips, ropes and chains hanging from his walls.

...that sounds like their was some element of consent.

I would need to know more about this case.

Having spent a decade in the BDSM community, I know there are a lot of things people do that might seem pretty messed up to everyday folks. To me, the things described in this article are perfectly OK in the context of a consensual relationship.

But if they had pre-negotiated boundaries that he violated, or if she told him to stop at any time and he did not, it is not OK. "Kinky" is not a free pass to do whatever the hell you want.

This one seems to have more details.

In searching Hauff's home, they found the "torture room" as the woman had described it. They found instructions on how to bind a woman. They also found books—books that Hauff had told the woman about on their drive back to Seattle, in a conversation she hadn't really followed. They were sci-fi novels set on a planet called Gor. The detective, Harry S. James, went online and found an excerpt for his report, in which the alleged victim's name is redacted. " 'The Perfect Bondage' is said to be one man and one woman, the complete master, the complete slave, ideal and perfect for each other's needs," he quoted from Slave Girl of Gor. The quotation, wrote the detective, "seemed consistent with what the suspect had done and said to the victim."

At least she notified her friend of where she was going, thank god. I have heard of so many similar tragic stories. There needs to be trust and respect between D and s, and that takes time.

It looks like she agreed to something fairly mild and he went way, way over her boundary. She's lucky she sent that text. She's also lucky she hasn't been arrested for prostitution herself- yet.

It's a freaking huge difference between play and rape/abuse. He should've got life in prison, not 12 years.

Brilliant survival instinct.

Luckily this guy looks like he won't last 12 years. Hopefully he won't.

But if two consenting adults want to beat eachother up, pull hair, play obedient, tie eachother up restrain another, whip or paddle eachother, spit, shit and piss on eachother, who am I to judge?

I try not to think about it much really.

This case here, the guy didn't have a willing partner.

Yeah, consenting adults can do whatever they want, but I don't regard it is particularly desirable.

This wasn't consensual, though. This was out and out horrible.

If it's consensual between adults, well, whatever floats your boat, I guess.
