(27,670 posts)A pair of ravens is nesting in the cliff above my house. When they were building their nest, they would come down and strip the bark from a dead tree right in front of my kitchen window. One would strip bark from the tree as the other stood watch. They provide great aerial acrobat shows, too. They're really smart. and they mate for life. Can hardly wait to see the babies.

(1,018 posts)between crows and ravens? I have a pair (crows/ravens) that nest in my redwood trees every year. They've gotten used to me over the years and will sit on a branch 3 feet away waiting for me to give them peanuts.

(27,670 posts)Ravens generally have a longer wingspan, and have distinctively bigger beaks than crows.
I can easily tell the difference by the way they fly, but I can't describe the difference, it's just something I know from long experience.
This may help you recognize what tribe your neighbors are:

(1,018 posts)These are definitely Crows. Loud and obnoxious but still lots of fun to watch. I guess they are migrating right now because sometimes I see 30-40 of them hanging out in the trees. Thank care and thanks again.
