(40,169 posts)Other than the NY Post, I think it's been pretty good, especially the Boston media, given the circumstances.

(87 posts)During chaotic situations, things are going to get misreported.
But I sure as hell wouldn't want to wait until 5PM like the old days to get the tightly packaged story.

(31,706 posts)...and it's not just the media that has been talking out of their asses...I've seen plenty of posts on websites (DU included) loaded with conjecture rather than fact...dropping names that were wrong and trying to get ahead of events. Kudos to MSNBC for sticking with the old journalism axiom of check and then check again...Pete Williams has held back on information until it's been verified.
The nature of the beast of 24/7 news is that you have minutes of excitement followed by hours of void...thus the endless looping of video and the parade of "experts" who will spin and speculate with the little fragments of information available.
As far as Chicken Noodle Nuze jumping the gun the other day on a supposed arrest...yep, an epic failure of a desperate news operation trying to gain some much needed PR...and it's blown up in their faces. For the most part, much of the media coverage has been measured...

I wish it was an epic media fail but the media has become too big to fail .They take 5 minutes of info and make it fill 5 hours between commercials for anti depressants and heart burn meds .
Who has slept in the last few days ?

(17,493 posts)CNN was lost in space. Fox News was somewhat better. MSNBC was by far the best.
