(11,931 posts)at the entrance of "his development" all the time. Turned out he was the town gypsy fortune teller's son and he was ashamed of his family. One day he just didn't show up at school anymore and I found out they hightailed it out of town because of some trouble his mom got into.

(75,480 posts)I usually met them somewhere or went to their place. My home was my sanctuary, so only a few close friends and family knew where I lived. Fifty years later and now a widow, I still feel the same way.

(75,480 posts)places. I know with this new bad economy, many young adults are living with parents again, but it's not the norm for Americans. Back in my day, many of my friends were kicked out, once they graduated from high school and got a job. The ones who didn't go on to college were expected to get their own places or pay room and board back at the parent unit's homestead.
