(5,141 posts)Why does this matter?? I'm not sure where this is going. My boss (female, so don't go there) bought me expensive shoes every year for Secretary's Day when I was an admin. I've bought thousands of dollars worth of antiques, dec arts, pens and leather goods for pennies....So....???

(118,696 posts)Of course he could have gotten the money from some legitimate source. But it is worth looking into.

(18,775 posts)Because people who are suddenly buying expensive stuff right before committing a bombing MIGHT point to them being paid or funded by someone else.
That will certainly be investigated. In fact, I'm sure his finances, contacts, phone records, friends, purchases, etc, etc are being going over with a fine tooth comb.

(65,616 posts)and that is one of them. It doesn't have anything to do with the shoes or the price, it is the fact that it stands out as unusual.

(5,141 posts)I've bought $1000 shoes at rummage sales for $5. If you know what to look for and you live in a wealthy area like I do, and like the bombers did...its a common occurrence.
Still confused. Not to be daft but...

There is something strange about this. We do not know the whole story yet. How do we know he had such expensive shoes? Or do we really know that? Is it just a rumor?

(118,696 posts)like crazy and looking down. He wanted his car back. The garage owner said "there is no bumper or tail lights". He said he wanted his car back. Garage owner thought something was very wrong like he was on drugs. (Don't think this is the occasion where he bragged about his shoes). Garage owner new him because he just lived down the street. Garage owner gave him his keys back and the kid took off with his car.
