My email to Morning Joe just minutes ago.

"Listening to the debate today on contraception coverage for employees of Catholic universities and hospitals (but not churches), I am outraged that you have NO ONE pointing out that 98% of U.S. Catholics use "artificial" birth control. See: http://catholicsforchoice.org/news/pr/2011/IOMsrecommendations.asp

Joe, you talk about Catholic voters as if they are going to be so outraged by this policy. No, you are confusing the Catholic hierarchy with the Catholic voter. The all male, celibate Bishops can read their letters from the pulpit till they are blue in the face. That doesn't change the fact that an overwhelming Catholic majority ignores them and gets on with their lives. "

And, I will add here, they need to hear from pro-family planning women spokespersons on their panel, not just their "token" woman who meekly (pun intended) agrees with the boss, even tho she "tries" to offer a little bit of the "other side." Damnit, Mika, get up off your knees and tell Joe he's full of it and any other man on that show who is talking about the Catholic voters going against Obama over this issue. Buncha garbage.

During the 2007-2008 cycle, I concluded that MJ is the place the TPs are rolled out each day. Mostly the Repub ones, but often the establishment Dem ones, too.

By 7:15, if not before, you have almost everything that will be "news" that day, short of a disaster or other event preempting politics.

Her voice is strident and annoying. It tells me that she is very opinionated and not all that interested in investigating new ideas and opinions.

You may think I am crazy, but I judge people a lot by their voices. To a certain extent, the sound of a person's voice depends on their physiology. But the voice is a product of breathing, less or more tension in the throat, vocal placement (high pitch - annoying, impatient, angry - or low - considerate of others, maybe on the negative, a little domineering), the use of muscles in the mouth and lips and all that depends on the attitudes and feelings of the person singing or speaking. Voices can express the warmth or coolness of a personality. Think of the warm voice of Ella Fitzgerald and the cool voice of Maria Callas. Two rather extreme examples.

I find that the way you produce your voice says a lot about who you are and what you think of yourself. If you listen carefully to the voices of different people, you will hear what I am talking about.

By the way, President Obama has a great voice. Listen to Newt Gingrich's voice and you will hear an angry, impatient man. Listen to Mitt Romney's voice and you will hear an insecure imposter. That's my opinion anyway.

As for Scarborough. I hear a petty, sniveling, impatient man. He sounds like someone who flies off the handle a lot.

Mika has a very nasal tone in her voice. Sounds like she is sort of sniffing her words up her nose. I suspect that Mika has felt the aim of his temper tantrums more than once and just holds in there because it is a job and she is paid well. It probably takes a lot of courage for Mika to express the few independent opinions that she dares to utter.

I still say Joey's still mad about that poster that went viral with Krugman's head photoshopped on George Clooney's body in that movie poster! Joe was downright depressed about that!

Ever since Mika's dad pronounced some statement Scar made about the Middle EAst as "stunningly superficial" Joey has been deferential when dad comes on the show, as if often the case recently (Zbig is promoting his book). He knows better now not to screw around with Mr. Zbig...

There is a segment of supposedly liberal Dem pundits like E.J. Dionne & Mark Sheilds who are so used to showing obsequious deference to the Catholic Bishops that they easily side with the heirarchy - a heirarchy that many, if not most, Catholics are fully aware of of placing the safety and well-being of women and children at the bottom of the barrel. We all know they cared much more about protecting the "Church" over the predatory priests they moved around & let continue to prey on the most vulnerable.

The degree to which the Church has ALWAYS placed WOMEN at the very lowest rung of the ladder is well known. I remember the first time my Mom pointed this out to me when I was a kid & it shocked me at 10 or 12 (I'm not sure how old I was). She said, in a quite disgusted & bitter way, that the Church would always choose the baby - even one already gone * over the mother - even if the mother had 5 little kids at home completely dependent on her for everything.

*(she knew from personal experience with a stillborn where they knew the baby died & just told her they hoped she went into labor & delivered the already dead baby before it started to poison her)

when I tried to submit my statement. I think they were jammed with responses. It took 3 tries before I got thru!

Basically, that show needs to have more women on the panels, particularly on this issue. Tina Brown is a little too "chi chi" and also is a Brit, so I think it constrains her. This morning they did have wheezebag Cokie Roberts who, mercifully, didn't comment on the HHS issue, so I guess they figure that she "counts."

They need some of the smart, outspoken women that Chris Hayes is having on his show Sat. and Sun. Have a couple of them on MJ and watch them skin those male retreads alive!

old dudes, with backward thinking. Joe is getting meaner, nastier and looking like sh*t every time he opens his mouth and barks out one of his rants.

But Chris' show is indicative that the management of MSNBC thinks they can have success with a very savvy, younger population of viewers. Watching his show is positively refreshing!

Joe's show lacks that verve. Today's lineup was lame: Cokie Roberts, Carl Bernstein, gasbag Barnicle and a depressing "twofer" of interviews with Sen. Pat Toomey and Rick Santorum back to back. Mark Halperin, with his creepy grin and snarky voice, was another unappetizing serving...

I was using it in a narrow sense, meaning "unmarried" which as I understand it, was the original meaning. Now I think it has been broadened to include any sexual activity (I don't know about masturbation, tho).

the implication here is that the Roman Catholic priesthood cannot understand what it means to be married and having a family to protect and support. So celibate in that sense fits.

In the last year I've tuned out near to zero, but in their early years when they p. me off regularly, I would jump out of bed to fire off e-mails to them, peppering my more rational content with epithets like "plaigiarist BARNICLE" and "Nazi BUCHANAN." At the beginning BARNICLE could be seen to flinch then they got the stuff, while they wouldn't mention it, but you could see a change of demeanor in them all. But as they settled into being accepted by the NY elite, with guests like Sarah Jessica PARKER telling them how much she loved them, they stopped being affected, "grew" into their big time status of letting the peanut gallery (us) drop shells where we may.

Along with the facts the O.P. cites that they ignore, our whole public discourse in elections is riddled with falsehoods, this cycle's being the continuing canard that Mittens "saved the Olympics." Somebody here posted a myth busting article that said Jack WELCH and some other fatcat did the labor on that and Mittens was named when it was all done to be the figurehead.

But thank Zeus BUCHANAN is gone. The HALPERIN a-hole makes me dry heave.

I did notice that Mika Mouse was a little more assertive today but she doesn't have much latitude.
