Since Republicans are saying the gun problem lies only with mental illness...

why not use this opportunity to force them to do sweeping changes to broaden access to mental health facilities and drugs, not just for the poor but for everyone? I know there was one bill to help poor people but mental health costs are way too high for even middle class folks these days. Many people live with depression and anxiety for years, never getting help because of the cost. I am not just talking about bringing gun violence down but getting people the help they really need and also bringing gun and domestic violence down in the process.

We have a golden opportunity to get something major done on mental illness and not taking advantage of it. WTF? If Republican's don't comply then that would prove they just don't want to do anything to curb gun violence. They are all on record saying it's the big issue so lets hold them to it.

I can hear them now. We can't just throw money into the mental illness problem. We need reasonable solutions. I do like your point. The Senate should come up with sweeping changes and propose them in the Senate. And not one of these we need 60 votes to move on crap-type votes.

They want more guns in more places, and could not care less about mental health.
