How could we have allowed this to happen?
Everyone is at risk wether you have insurance or not..
If your over 50 and must buy your own insurance, your price for insurance will be off the chart by the time you hit 60.. Healthy, nothing going on will by my estimates, cost close to 2 grand
a month for a single person with a modest deductible.
And the scary part it is that there is no hope.. 25% of the country feel we got this way because it is Gods will... They would rather die than give into the concept of govt. intervention...Based on gerrymandering and current geographic statistics, 25% is enough to prevent anything positive
happening.. Im just besides myself tonight!

(12,448 posts)that you can't afford to use is worse than having none. The Health Insurance Industry Profit Protection Act is going to cost the party and every American dearly for generations to come.
This is what happens when republicans pretending to be Democrats pass bad republican ideas into law.

(16,038 posts)if the goal is to get life saving medical care when needed without losing your home, car, retirement, etc..You will not lose those things if a catastrophic illness arises, and you will receive better treatments if you have insurance. Most catastrophic plans have wellness aspects for free annual physicals and some have prescriptions for $5 or some such. The point is, this is the best option for some people. The days of $100 deductibles are gone. Hopefully something better comes along..it aint here now..

(13,485 posts)It's a sad state of affairs and the human cost is more than is even vaguely necessary. The wealth is there to cover the health of all Americans, it's just funneled into bottomless pits. And those who believe it's gods will have themselves just given up and want to die and go to that happy heaven place they imagine is out there. So they really don't care at all. They just want out of this life and don't realize that this is all there is. They don't care that the rest of the human race needs their help too. Nah... Jesus is coming and I don't have to worry about anything. It's all gods will and I am not allowed to change it, says the loudmouth in the pulpit.

Greedy Person Two: "Who would go along with that? Sounds like a scam. How could we get people to buy into that idea?"
Greedy Person Three: "Let's have a couple more shots"

(3,411 posts)Knowing some business people, studying business, and analyzing the Republican party for the past decade, I'm pretty sure that these people laugh at some table as they concoct schemes to make lots of money at the expense of people's lives, and they just use "positive thinking" to ignore the negative effects such schemes would have on other people.

(42,770 posts)care about how our actions affect people (of course they mostly help people). They build in "create plan to deal with PR on negative effect" to their project plans. Like negative effects are assumed, taken for granted, and have no emotional impact on them whatsoever.
