Ramsey tells Cooper that his neighbor of about a year was "cool, he was no freak of nature" but yesterday he heard a girl scream "like a car had hit her kid." Amanda Berry told him "I've been trapped in here and he won't let me out. Its me and my baby." Berry, he tells Cooper "was well-groomed. She didn't look like she was kidnapped That's what threw me off."
Ramsey says he doesn't feel like a hero, and when asked about a rumored reward, he shows Cooper his paycheck and says "give it to them (the girls)."

COOPER: Has the FBI said anything about a reward or anything? Because there was that - there was a reward for finding her.
RAMSEY: I tell you what you do, give it to them. Because if folks been following this case since last night, you been following me since last night, you know I got a job anyway. Just went picked it up, paycheck. What that address say? That say?
COOPER: I don't have my glasses. I'm blind as a bat.
RAMSEY: 2203 Seymour. Where are them girls living? Right next door to this paycheck. So yes, take that reward and give it to -that little girl came out the house and she was crying.

(89,276 posts)not in a "it's my fault" type of way but just the thought of how he was living there for a year and they were there that whole time and he hadn't been able to do anything. i really hope he does get some help since there are a lot of stories about heroes who for whatever reason afterwards were not able to deal with what happened.
i guess they keep thinking about the bad things those they saved went through. he said he wasn't able to sleep just thinking about what was happening to those girls.
He does seem to be a very strong, grounded person, but it's traumatic for him, too. I hope he has a good support system. Probably does, because he was clearly raised right.

(17,301 posts)I've noticed that people who are NOT rich, who work hard for lowly paychecks, who struggle to pay bills, are loving and brave more often than those born to wealth.
It's as if a lack of money and wealth makes us strong and brave while huge amounts of wealth, or even associating with people with huge amounts of wealth, makes us into assholes.
