http://www.arlingtoncemetery.mil/AboutUs/PublicSafetySecurity.aspxCarrying firearms in Arlington National Cemetary (the south end of the Memorial Bridge) is prohibited except for military and law enforcement personnel.

I guess it will ruin the 4th for a lot of families in this area who won't feel safe going to the Mall now.

(19,964 posts)You know these nutters will not be given a permit and will therefore be subject to arrest for breaking existing laws. So what happens when the police start making arrests and taking away their precious guns? This is just a recipe for disaster.

(66,467 posts)If the DC Police detain these idiots for carrying weapons into the city despite the civic ordinance against it, won't they simply be "enforcing the laws that are already on the books?" Which is what the gun-crazies are always saying they want?...
Lying, fucking hypocrites.
Demented assholes, too...

(16,093 posts)As for why MPD is being mentioned...these "gun patriots" might be thinking of gathering on Columbia Island which is part of D.C., but located on the Virginia side of the Memorial Bridge.
