1. This is a test to see how far they can go breaking the law.

My question is, will anything be done about it?

I guess it will ruin the 4th for a lot of families in this area who won't feel safe going to the Mall now.

You know these nutters will not be given a permit and will therefore be subject to arrest for breaking existing laws. So what happens when the police start making arrests and taking away their precious guns? This is just a recipe for disaster.

If they arrive over time, it can be a little like a relay race. This scenario sounds a like a movie script and is unrealistic, but still rather humorous in a macabre way considering what could happen.

If the DC Police detain these idiots for carrying weapons into the city despite the civic ordinance against it, won't they simply be "enforcing the laws that are already on the books?" Which is what the gun-crazies are always saying they want?...

Lying, fucking hypocrites.

Demented assholes, too...

And then they'll have the talking point that thousands of rifle owners participated in civil disobedience peacefully while the police ignored the actual illegal gun threat 20 blocks down Pennsylvania Ave.

As for why MPD is being mentioned...these "gun patriots" might be thinking of gathering on Columbia Island which is part of D.C., but located on the Virginia side of the Memorial Bridge.

Carrying the gun is illegal, but menacing has a definition, and civil disobedience isn't it.

Any chance of these people losing the ability to lawfully possess guns if they get arrested during this?
