CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Peaches the Pit Bull may seem look like an unlikely therapy dog, but she and her owner are just back from Boston where they worked with people still reeling from the bombings there.

Like most dogs, Peaches loves a good belly rub. She and brother Finley vie for attention at home in Charlotte, but Peaches got a lot of love this past weekend on a special "working" trip to Boston.

“Everywhere we went, we were just greeted with big smiles,” Jennifer Bashford said.

“There was a police woman, we walked up to her and she started to cry. She sat there with Peaches for a long time and just petted her.”

Peaches the Wonder Pit, once slated to be euthanized because she was part of an animal cruelty case in Georgia, is now a certified therapy dog.
